Emulate the Nikon ML-L3 / 4730 remote with a Pocket PC and NoviiRemote
What you will need.
I have tested this with NoviiRemote 1.3, other versions may or may not work.
The downside with NoviiRemote is that it isn’t near as good as OmniRemote is on the Palm Pilot, it has no macro functions so you are stuck with only the stuff you could do with the original ML-L3, no timers or anything. If anyone finds any better IrDa software for Pocket PC (Win/ARM) please contact me, freeware version would be ideal.
Installation instructions are included in the zip file with the database
HELP ME WITH THIS PROJECT!!!
If anyone has a different Nikon IrDa device and has captured it’s signal with NoviiRemote, please send me the codebase file so I can add it to the database. This also goes for Canon users and anyone who has a camera that can be triggered by Infrared.
Instructions for Installing on a Pocket PC with Nevo Software sent in by reader Nick Koss
I prefer a program called Nevo (the one that comes bundled with HP ipaqs), so I fiddled a bit and got it to work thanks to the info supplied on your page. Here is how I did it (in case other people are interested):
1. Downloaded and installed NoviiRemote and your PDB file
2. Opened Nevo, added a new Device (doesn\’t matter which, I used a \’Video Accessory\’)
3. Went to \’Edit Key\’ mode and chose \’Learn from Remote\’
4. Pressed Learn (this enters Nevo into listening mode)
5. Switched back to NoviiRemote and pressed Enter button while facing a mirror (so the signal bounces back to the Pocket PC)
6. Nevo displayed a message confirming the learning of the signal
7. Done!
